With the cappuccino its the relationship of the milk and coffee AND FOAM. Easily identified with the thick foam and finishings, the cappuccino is different from a regular flat white with a addition of the foam and cocoa sprinkles on top.
The origin of the word cappuccino is throught to date back over 500 years to the Capuchin order of friars, whom in 1525 played a major role in bringing Catholicism back to Reformation Europe.
The order's name derives from long pointed cowl, or "cappuccino", derivative of "cappuccio" meaning "hood" in Italian.
If you want to make yourself a nice cappuccino at home or at the office, without any big or small electric machine, you might as well leave it to professionals!
The milk has to be whisked abd heated while heated to a warm temp, not boiling. The whisking of the milk produced the foam for the top of the cappuccino that is spooned on after the milk is added to the coffee.
